Should I settle for less?

Yesterday was my first day in an attempt to find a new job.

Don’t worry, I have my old job, I am not jobless. But I have been looking for change now and for quite some time I have been thinking, now yesterday I got the courage to convert my thoughts into action.

So I opened my organisation’s internal job portal and started searching for jobs that were of my interest.

An hour later I found 7 jobs i could associate with and pinged the hiring managers with hope of getting replies in split seconds.

Hours converted to a day and I got one response, stating that my skillset was what the manager was not looking for.

And it saddened me, ’cause it was my first rejection, so I spent the whole evening applying to other jobs which I didn’t consider in the first place.

Were I settling for less, or were I bringing out all the possibilities to secure my future self.

Has this happened to you too?

  1. I am retired now but when younger this was something that happened many times. I tried not to let it bother me, sometimes a rejection came with good advice and other times you just got a standard letter. At least most of my working life was spent in work that I really enjoyed and that is as important as anything else. Good luck with your search.

  3. A job is something that takes away almost one-third time of a day every day and doing something that you don’t have an interest in makes you mentally tired in the long term so you better search for something that you like doing.

  4. Priya try to find a job that you would love to do even if there was no pay. That is the job that is best for you. You will be happy, have fun, and feel greatly satisfied. Your work life will then be very fulfilling for you. Be patient and keep looking. Decide what you truly love to do. Then find a job doing it, or create your own job and be self-employed. Don’t rule that one out because you can earn many times more than a job will pay you. I wish you the best as you make these life changing decisions become your new reality.
